% Truncation: In fielded searches, use the % (percent sign) to truncate or shorten the exact form of your en try. Truncation is best used in Personal or Group Name searches. Your entry must be long enough to distinguish it from other entries: e.g., Wright, F% or Wright, M%, not Wright%. Do not use the truncation symbol for places, buildings, and subjects if you want hierarchic searching to remain active. Do not use % truncation in keyword searches.
